OCA Greater Seattle hosts Situational Awareness and Self-Defense Workshop

OCA Greater Seattle presented a Situational Awareness and Self-Defense Workshop on November 21 at Othello-UW Commons.

The workshop was led by Michael Nguyen of OCA National and Han Eckelberg of Mak Fai Kung Fu Lion and Dance Association.

The free bystander training and self defense workshop comes as communities across the nation continue to see a rise in anti-Asian hate.

  1. Hello, my name is Melissa Sharp – I’m a regional manager for the Washington State Department of Revenue. I manage the three staff’s located in our downtown Seattle office, in recent visits I’ve been more and more concerned about managers and staff accessing public spaces outside the office. (They park in a secure location under the building) I have been thinking about a situational awareness training course for staff, was looking at Seattle PD, but that appears to be a nonstarter. I think this is way outside your groups typical scope, but thought I would at least ask. We have a number of Asian staff, in addition to other ethnic groups. Is this something you would entertain? I believe we could pay for trainers time and travel. Please let me know at your earliest convenience about your willingness/availability.
    Thank you,

    Melissa
