CID Cares effort, public safety pamphlet informs community seniors about how to stay safe

OCA Greater Seattle hosted CID Cares: Care for Community, Care for Self on Saturday, November 15. The event is held annually in the Chinatown International District where community, educational and government organizations as well as local businesses gather together to support senior residents of the neighborhood.

CID Cares partners with many community organizations, including International District / Chinatown Community Center, International District Emergency Center, Chinese Information Service Center, International Community Health Services, Seattle Public Library, and Wing Luke Museum.

The event also saw the release of a Public Safety Pamphlet, which was made possible with funding from Cathay Bank Foundation, Historic South Downtown, and Seattle Department of Neighborhoods. University of Washington students who helped to put the pamphlet together gave a short performance on situations outlined in the pamphlet to show people are scammed, assaulted and taken advantage of.

After the event, volunteers delivered the pamphlets and goodie bags to International House, New Central Apartments, and Chinese Baptist Church in Beacon Hill, directly servicing nearly 400 Chinese elderly. Throughout 2026, OCA Greater Seattle will continue delivering the pamphlets to the remaining nine senior buildings in the Chinatown International District.

Northwest Asian Weekly and South Seattle Emerald reported on the event here and here.
