OCA-Greater Seattle mourns the passing of Kip Tokuda
“Some leaders are respected and some are liked. He was both. You listened to what he had to say because he listened to you,” said Ron Chew, director of the International Community Health Services Foundation, who counted himself among the people Mr. Tokuda mentored.
OCA – Greater Seattle is greatly sadden and deeply mourns the passing of longtime community leader and former State Representative Kip Tokuda. “No one has done more to advance the local Asian Pacific Island Community than Kip,” said OCA Greater Seattle president Doug Chin. Tokuda was an icon who has left an indelible legacy as an effective and respected state leader who persistently fought for social justice, children’s program and the under- privilege. Furthermore, he probably did more to than any other in developing and mentoring APIs. We will greatly miss his leadership. Our deepest condolences to the Tokuda family.
